It should then give you a message saying they will pay you X amount of credits a day if you leave them alone. If you successfully destroy the fleet WITHOUT jumping to other systems or landing, then hit Shift+T again and click Demand Tribute again. If your combat ranking is high enough then it should send out it's defense fleet to attack and destroy you. Shift+T to talk to the planet, and hit Demand Tribute. Next fly into space to the system/planet you want to take over. Just have a pretty strong fleet, and a pretty solid combat ranking. What is your plan for game macanics? I see you can get feets and so on, but would there be a way to take over systems, or claim ones that are not owned by the tow factions? What is your plan for game macanics? I see you can get feets and so on, but would there be a way to take over systems, or claim ones that are not owned by the tow factions? I understand that its Open Source, but I am not someone who dabbles in codeing, and would have no idea where to start with implemniting it on my own. lol I am guessing though, that it is, in some part, based of the EV games, becuse it is so simmiler. The UI is better, but the macantics, planets, it all screems EV Nova. Holy ♥♥♥♥, it is an EXACT clone of EV Nova. and on Steam?' I go find it, and dwonload it it. I got to this one, and think 'This looks a LOT like EV Nova.' reads more 'Oh, its free. And was like, 'Thats the game!' I prosed to close the tabs for the other games I had opened, looking them over to see if they would be interesting. Few mints later, I read in the forum the name EV Nova. This one looked a LOT like the game I was looking for, so I hit the link. This lead me to a forum, full of games that where top-down and 2D. Yesterday, I went looking for it, having forgotten the name of the game, I put in to the serch '2D top down Space Sim'. A 2D, top down game, that lets you rade, fight and explore. I'll have to take a look at EV Nova - thanks for bringing it to my attention. So, YEARS and YEARS ago, I came across a game called EV Nova. I bought a license to EV Override but never found much time to play. ![]() It was great though, had this powerful military ship, but meant every military ship treated me as a pirate, so I had to become one. Never was able to get that tactic to work ever again, it was pure chance one time. One time, I snuck in at the tail end of a battle between a heavy duty pirate ship and some military vessel - pirate was left very weakened, military vessel floating waiting to be boarded, and I slip up in my little freighter, board the military ship, transfer my "flag" to it, and just barely get away as the pirate comes after me. ![]() Hey! I remember this game! Ambrosia did an amazing job with Escape Velocity especially considering how small a company they were at the time I frittered away a lot of time going through the various plots. ![]() IIRC, there are demos to try for free (shareware). (Don't get thrown off by the 1st time you see ships in space around you your ship will get a few tweaks to make the visuals a little more appealing -)) They're cheap, offer tons of playtime, and plenty of freedom. Much like Fallout 3 in modern times.īut while I don't have the time to replay them, I'd invite those of you who haven't to give them a try. I love those open-world do what you want when you want it games. Even the famous (name escapes me.) total conversion mod. I hear you brother! I played all 3 of those back in the day, and loved them immensely. Those who have played it before, let this be the place for you to discuss the AWESOME. It has a huge modding community, with new ships, storylines, even total conversions of the game. You can become a pirate and raid for profit, you can trade in expensive goods piled onto huge cargo ships, or you can enter into any of the main storylines and amass power. For those uninitiated, EV Nova is a CRPG set in space, where you are the pilot of a starship, represented by a 2D sprite. I got this when it first came out and played the original Escape Velocity, as well as EV Override.
